Dara Weinerman Steinberg
Dara joined the Lippman Kanfer Family Foundation as its first non-family staff member in December 2009. Over the next several years, she guided the organization through a strategic planning process and subsequent launch of a refocused Lippman Kanfer Family Foundation and of a new foundation, Lippman Kanfer Foundation for Living Torah. Currently, Dara serves as Executive Director for both foundations. She is passionate about helping Jewish nonprofits reach their potential and enjoys working with grantees and partners on their programmatic and organizational challenges.
Over the past fifteen years, Dara has held staff and consulting roles for a variety of nonprofits, focusing on development and fundraising operations. Prior to moving to Ohio, Dara was Director of Development at the South Orange Performing Arts Center in NJ. She earned her MBA from Fordham University, where she was a Deming Scholar, and she holds a BA from Smith College, where she graduated magna cum laude and wrote her history honors thesis on Jews in vaudeville. After graduating from Fordham, Dara spent two years as a Senior Consultant with Satori Consulting, a boutique management consulting firm based in New York City, where she worked with Fortune 100 institutions to develop business continuity plans, corporate training, and compliance monitoring systems. As a Deming Scholar, she did consulting projects at United Healthcare, Federated Logistics & Operations, VERIZON, and Cendant. Dara is Assistant Treasurer of the Smith College Club of Cleveland and is a published poet and produced playwright. She lives with her husband and two young sons in Northeast Ohio.
